Learn about the policies that guide the African American Museum of Iowa in the administration of outgoing and incoming loans.

Outgoing Loans

The African American Museum of Iowa loans objects from its Permanent Collection to other museums, historical societies or educational institutions with an appropriate facility. The Museum does not loan to commercial galleries or private individuals. Loan requests must be made in advance in writing. They are subject to the approval of the curator. For more information about our loan policies and procedures, or to request the loan of an object from the Museum’s collection, contact our curator.

Incoming Loans

The Museum accepts incoming loans from individuals and other institutions for the purpose of exhibition only. Loans intended for storage are not accepted.
