Note

Thank you for your interest in a tour of the African American Museum of Iowa. During our current staff transitions, guided tours have been temporarily suspended.

We encourage you to take a self-guided tour during our open hours. As a courtesy, if your group is larger than 10 patrons, please call to let us know when you plan to visit. Thank you for understanding.

A group of four adults and a child are given a guided tour in the museum gallery.

Explore our current exhibits with a trained educator who can provide additional stories, background, and insight throughout your tour.

You’ll need at least 10 people to reserve a group tour. Our group tours for adults:

  • Last around 45 minutes.
  • Are available during regular museum hours Monday through Friday and on select Saturdays dependent upon staff availability
  • Must be schedule at least 7 days in advance
  • Tours include both the permanent and temporary exhibit and cost $7 per adult or $6 per senior

If your group is interested in using the Celebration Hall or Learning Lab for a meeting or meal, please visit https://blackiowa.org/meeting-event-space/ for information about facility rentals.
