In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re displaying a series of pop-up exhibits. These free-standing, informational banners are part of AAMI’s traveling exhibit collection and are available to rent throughout the year.

The Only One uncovers what it’s like to be an African American in Iowa through stories and photographs from everyday Iowans and famous residents. As only a small percent of the state’s population, African Americans have often had the experience of being the “only one.” Explore these experiences and more with this exhibit. The Only One is based on a 2012 exhibit presented by the AAMI and the Johnson County Historical Society.
