Jump back in time for a simulated outdoor Underground Railroad experience at The African American Museum of Iowa and Wickiup Hill’s annual Journey to Freedom.
Experience the perils and triumphs of the escape from slavery as you use the stars to navigate, build a fire from abolitionist “conductors,” hide from slave catchers, and encounter farmers and bounty hunters while trying to reach Canada. Who can you trust? Will you make it to freedom? Or will you be captured and sent back into slavery?
