Join the AAMI for our brand-new book club, Book Club 802. This month we will be reading Wake: The Hidden History of Women Led Slave Revolts by Rebecca Hall. We’ll be meeting to discuss the book on Tuesday, October 24 from 7:00-8:15 PM at Java John’s Coffee House, 400 West Water Street, Decorah. Registration is preferred but not required.

Why Book Club 802? The club draws its name from House File 802, legislation which bans Iowa governmental entities — including K-12 schools — and public colleges from teaching “divisive concepts.” As a non-governmental entity, we can continue to talk about race, racism and systemic oppression, and we invite everyone to join us in the conversation.
