Join the AAMI for our brand-new book club, Book Club 802. This month we will be reading Wake: The Hidden History of Women Led Slave Revolts by Rebecca Hall. We’ll be meeting to discuss the book on Tuesday, November 7 at 6:30 at Beaverdale Books in Des Moines. Registration is preferred but not required.

Why Book Club 802? The club draws its name from House File 802, legislation which bans Iowa governmental entities — including K-12 schools — and public colleges from teaching “divisive concepts.” As a non-governmental entity, we can continue to talk about race, racism and systemic oppression, and we invite everyone to join us in the conversation.
