Enrich and expand your curriculum in a fun and memorable way with a field trip to the African American Museum of Iowa. During this hands-on, on-site learning experience, students will:

Field Trip Guidelines
Youth tours of the exhibit are for students third- grade and up. Younger students can participate in a youth workshop, booked through the programming page.
Field trips are dependent on staff availability, and are expected to reopen in the fall of 2024.
We recommend groups of the following sizes:
- Grades 3-5: 10 to 25 students
- Grades 6–8: 10 to 30 students
- Grades 9–12: 10 to 30 students
Students are $5 each, first two chaperones are free and additional adults are $8, audio guides can be added for an additional dollar per participant. Tours should have one adult chaperone for every 10 students at minimum.
Field trip groups needing a lunch space may reserve the Museum’s Celebration Hall, subject to staff approval and availability. Information and rates for both spaces can be found here.
