Suspended at Des Moines Public Library (Franklin Ave)

October 23 - November 1

- Free
Experience a high-quality traveling version of the AAMI’s latest exhibit, Suspended: Systemic Oppression in our Schools, at the Des Moines Public Library. This exhibit examines the role public schools play in funneling students into the prison system. Elements of the criminal justice system have entered public schools around the country, resulting in zero tolerance policies and student policing that disproportionately impact children of color. Visit to learn more and explore ways to dismantle systems that feed the school to prison pipeline.
The exhibit will travel to multiple DMPL branches:
  • 10/3-10/23 Central Library (1000 Grand Ave)
  • 10-23-11/1 Franklin Avenue Library (5000 Franklin Ave)
  • 11/2 South Side Library (1111 Porter Ave)
  • 11/3-11/30 Franklin Avenue Library (5000 Franklin Ave)
