L.D. Kidd & 100% Over Racism – “They Drew a Line”

Join the AAMI for a thought provoking spoken word and dance performance by L.D. Kidd of 100% Over Racism.  As part of the Museum’s 2021 Performance Series, sponsored by AARP, this live streamed event premeires right before Thanksgiving. Utilizing dance, spoken word, and other live performance methods, “They Drew a Line” will look at redlining through the eyes of a grandchild, son, and father. This project is presented in collaboration with 100% OVER RACISM. and the African American Museum of Iowa’s exhibit, “Mapping Exclusion: Redlining in Iowa.” L.D. hopes that this work can become a lecture-demonstration to be presented in schools throughout the state of Iowa.L.D.’s performance will be livestreamed from the AAMI on November 23 at 6:30pm. There is no cost to view the performance, but contributions are welcomed and can be made online to support AAMI’s mission to preserve, exhibit, and teach Iowa’s African American heritage.

 

Lovar Davis Kidd, known by L.D. is a poet, author, dance educator, musician, and antagonist to all ne’er-do-wellers. L.D. is no stranger to the stage having performed extensively in both dance and musical theatre productions throughout the US and overseas over the last 25 years. He currently serves as a staff member at Nolte Academy, and as an Adjunct Instructor of Hip-Hop at the University of Iowa, where he began his MFA in Dance this Fall. When not teaching or choreographing, L.D. works as a licensed massage therapist and registered yoga teacher at Hands in Harmony in Cedar Rapids, IA. He is the proud father of two energetic boys, Myles & Kohen.
