Museum Without Walls

Educational Outreach
We provide fun, educational programs and events throughout Iowa, for children, adults, families, organizations and businesses. Traveling Trunks, assembled from artifacts in the collection, can be borrowed for hands-on use in classrooms. Distance-learning classes reach schools statewide through the Iowa Communications Network (ICN).

Museum Chapters
Community volunteers help us provide museum services like lectures, exhibits, programs and educational outreach in communities across Iowa. To find out if there is a Museum Chapter near you, or to start your own community chapter, contact Lynn Koos at 319-862-2101 x27 or lkoos@blackiowa.org.

Resource Library
The Museum maintains a non-circulating library of resources and materials available to instructors and students for research on African American history.

Traveling Exhibits
Many of our exhibits travel throughout Iowa to educate the public about the museum and various African and African American themes. To find out more, contact Katharine Hardy toll-free at 877-526-1863 x17 or curator@blackiowa.org.
