George Neal worked in a tailor shop near his family home in an area of Buxton known as Coopertown. Neal also played baseball for the Buxton Wonders. His wife Alice (pictured with their children, right) worked part-time in the hotel and at a lunch counter near the coal mines. Their two children, Dorothy and Harry attended the Fifth Street Elementary School.
