Virtual Exhibits

To provide visitors with a flavor of the AAMI's exhibits and collection, we have created a number of virtual exhibits. These virtual exhibits are based on all or part of the AAMI's past and present changing exhibits.

Doorways: A History of African Americans in Iowa -- This virtual exhibit is based on the Museum's original permanent exhibit which was lost in the flood of 2008.

No Roads Lead to Buxton -- This exhibit is based on the AAMI's current temporary exhibit.

Forgotten History: African Americans in Lee County, Iowa

Iowa Roots, Global Impact: The Life and Legacy of George Washington Carver -- This virtual exhibit was created by students from Cornell College. The actual exhibit was lost in the flood of 2008. (Special thanks to Professor Catherine Stewart)

Unsung Heroines -- This exhibit is based on a portion of the former permanent exhibit.

It's More Than Just a Game: African American Sports in Iowa
